I find fascinating that different people have different perceptions of the same place: can I call the place that lives in my memory, “mine”? Can I avoid oblivion and perpetuate the memories I want to keep? With these questions, I set up an easel in many parks in London and invited passers-by to draw their memories of the parks. This is my attempt at preserving the participants memories, alongside my own. Exhibited in Shanghai, CN. Language: English Time: 00:38 Material: Relief Printing/Stop Motion Animation On a rainy day, maybe inspired by the sound of raindrops, I suddenly had an idea to make an animation about rain. I used three woodblocks to shoot the stop-motion animation and told a story with these blocks. In the first beginning, I coated the whole blocks with black printing ink and carved the story on the blocks based on the pictures taken with each frame. Size: 75 x 90 cm Material: Paper/Printmaking/Marker/Fishing Line/Acrylic Plate I showcased my artwork using two distinct mediums: woodcuts and three-dimensional illustrations on acrylic boards inspired by these woodcuts. I employed dialogue as a tool to advance the plot and gradually reveal the underlying truth. With vintage-style graphics reminiscent of classic movie posters, I aimed to infuse the semi-detective narrative with a sense of suspense. The visual narrative unfolds on two planes: the direct interactions between the sheriff and the witnesses, juxtaposed with the unfolding storyline discussed in their conversation. China, and is currently living and working in London. Through her work, she tells small but sparkling stories of life. She works around memory, time, and nature. These elements are not just themes in her work, they are reflections of her own life, her dreams, and her contemplations. CHOUCHOU likes to use different techniques, but she has a preference for touchable mediums as a way to physically connect with her work. Her use of printmaking techniques gives her work rich textures and layers, combining vibrant colors with traditional printmaking methods in a unique illustration style.
